e-Communication Reflection

This year I learned how to us many different applications on a mac including Final Cut Pro, Adobe Illustrator, Google SketchUp, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver. I learned about colors, hues, placement, text, movement, advertisement and selling a product, blending images, how to use tools on applications, how to create a website, and much more basic knowledge you need to know to create a great project in each strand of e-communication. Throughout learning all of the technical parts of his program I really grew as a person and learned how to really work with people and others ideas.

All of the skills that I have collected I learned from listening in class during demonstrations and lessons, asking questions and playing with tools. I did get a lot pf information from listening to lessons during class but most of my information came from sitting down at my computer and playing with the app and asking questions to the teacher and stablemates.

Everything that I have learned in this program is important because no matter what I do in life these skills can help me in some way. Every job has some sort of technology incorporated into it so its helpful to know how to operate a computer and be educated about it. Also I learned a lot of good social skills like collaboration, communication, and project management that is crucial to any job you have in the future.

My greatest strengths include communicating and collaborating with people, project management, and creative thoughts and ideas. My weaknesses deal with the technical part of e-communication. I struggle with remembering the certain keys used and everything I had learned about a certain application.
In my opinion I think the strengths that I have are more helpful to my future because every strength that I have is important to any job. You have to be able to work with others or nothing can get done. If you don't have project management  you can fall behind in work and become overwhelmed and that just isn't working efficiently.

I think that I have improved from the beginning of the year because when I first entered the program all I knew was how to turn on the computer but after the full school year I have developed a completely new knowledge of animation, web design, video, graphic design, communication, and project management that I didn't have before I went through this program.

Even though I am not going through with the last three years of ecomm I thought this program was still very beneficial to me. I will use my knowledge of people skills and work ethics in the future. For any job I go to into the future, skills that I have learned will translate to it.

There isn't anything that I would change about my experience through e-communication because I am happy with every bit of information that I have soaked in through this year. Everything that I have learned ins going to benefit me and i wouldn't change it or do anything differently.

E-Communication has been a very beneficial program for me that taught me technical skills as well as people and time skills that will help me with life and my future in any career I decide to chose.

E9 F I N A L  P R O J E C T

TEAM-Slayer
PRODUCT- Boomerang Ball

I think our team worked well together because we communicated well and knew what we needed to get done each day, did even amounts of work, and got all of our work done on time.

The things we struggled with was that everyone had different ideas for parts of our project like the logo and video and had to come to one decision.

If i was to do another group project through ecomm i would get all of our ideas straight before we started it. for some things during this project we came up with the idea right before we started it and just went along with the flow.

I was pleased with were we ended with our project the only thing that i would change would be to add more to the website and make it look more professional.

I have improved from the beginning of the year immensely because at the beginning of the year i didn't know the software and how to work it or any understanding of what we were going to be doing and how to do it. but reaching the end of the year shows how much i have grown in every strand. i have knowledge of how to complete things on my own and knowledge of the software and terms.

In this project i created the coupon, Boomerang Ball in the animation, and the idea for the logo and created the first logo and idea for the video.

 Photoshop Projects

I liked these projects because they were really creative and i enjoy using photoshop in ecomm. Throughout these projects we used new tools including the magic wand tool, clone stamp tool, and the lasso tool. The difficulties that i ran into was using the new tools that i haven't used but in the end of these projects i got a new understanding of photoshop and more skills that i
can use this year.

my personal logo

this is the final result of my favorite personal logo i created. i wanted to keep it simple and bold by using black and not keeping it too busy, and by using my first initial. my feedback on my logo was that it was very memorable, unique, simple but original, and bold.

famous logos

in em this week we created famous logos through illustrator! we found tutorials on youtube and the internet to help us. i decided to create the Chanel logo and also the old Pepsi logo. i learned a lot of new things having to create these logos and having to learn how to do it on my own. learned a lot about the pen tool, which was difficult but i kept doing it over and over and eventually got the hang of it, and so much more.

these are the logos i created with the tutorials listed on them to guide me through how to make them.

graphic design

what is graphic design?

Graphic design is art that is a part of everyones lives, it contains words, color, emotion, size, shapes and creativity to create something like a label or logo. every day you can see a label on something like a soda can or even your school textbooks. its all graphic design, and it plays a big role in our lives.

3 personal connections-

  • when picking a book i normally go toward the books with the interesting covers that look aesthetically pleasing to me.
  • i don't like any of my school textbooks and one of my friends asked me why. and i responded they were ugly. most people don't like that they are textbooks for SCHOOL but the one thing that went to my head for why i didn't like it was the cover.
  • when I'm  looking Pinterest and a logo pops up it makes me want to draw it or make a new logo

E9 PROMO VIDEO

e9 is a program here at olathe northwest high school which allows students to learn things in areas of video, graphic design, and animation, but you can learn all about that by watching this video i created in the video portion of e9 showing what e9 is and what we are all about!

  • in my video i think i edited the film well including the voice over and music and had steady well planned shots.
  •  i think if i did this project again i would have gotten more shots.
  • i think what i could improve on would be getting a greater variety of shots instead of mostly focusing on medium and wide shots.

animal type

today in e9 we took a "test" to see what type of animal you were out of 4 different ones.my results were an otter

characteristics of an otter-

  • enthusiastic
  • takes risks
  • visionary
  • verbal
  • promoter
  • enjoys popularity
  • fun loving
  • likes variety
  • spontaneous
  • inspirational
strength-people person, open and positive
weakness-talks too much

Im a little surprised this was my highest ranking animal type because another type of animal type was also a golden retriever which had characteristics that described me very will such as loyal, gives in to others, and nurturing to people around me.

also an example or explanation of why i could be an otter type is I'm very happy and energetic around my friends for the most part and I'm very loving to all my friends and family.

the 6 shot system & rule of 1/3s

This week in e9 we learned about the 6 shot system, which are the basic shots you use in any video or photography. The 6 shots consist of...

  • over the shoulder
  • close up of hands
  • medium shot
  • wide shot
  • extra wide shot
  • close up of face

Also we learned about the rule of thirds, which looks like a tick tack toe board laid over your picture. instead of having the object or person in your photographing right in the center of the image or video, you want the object or person to be set where the "tick tack toe" lines lay to make the picture more interesting and better composed.

6 shot system-

close up of the hands- a close up of the hands
shows what they are doing, and has good motion
in it.

over the shoulder- an over the shoulder shot shows
wat your subject is working on by taking it from
their perspective.

close up of the face-a close up of the face helps
show emotion an the detail of the subjects face.
this shot should have the whole face taken up in the
image.

medium shot- the medium shot is from the waist
up, and is a neutral shot to show some surroundings,
but focused on the subject.

wide shot-in the wide, its a full body shot. from head to toe.
this shot is meant to show
surroundings but still focused on the subject.

x/wide shot-the extra with shot is meant to show the
setting and environment the subject is in, the
subject should still be in a head to toe shot.

Colleges doing background checks on social media?

The article "they loved your GPA, then they saw your tweets" By Natasha Singer is all about how social media can rowen our chances into getting into colleges.

Some colleges are now starting to look at what you post on social media, which can rowen your chances of getting in for some people. Even if you have great grades and were about to be accepted, if they see your social media and they see something they don't like they can just deny your application!

This wasn't too surprising to me that colleges did this, just because social media and electronics are just about everywhere, and i see how colleges and schools could use it in a beneficial way to themselves, but i was really surprised that even if a student could definitely get into that school to begin with that the school could just "toss them out" of the acceptence because of a post from social media that might not even be theirs!

My big question is what if that post wasn't theirs, or they got hacked and a college saw that that was being posted on your account? Even if those weren't your words, pictures or videos, colleges would be in the point of view that they were yours! I don't think this is fair for great students that don't have any bad posts, and then they don't get accepted because of another persons acts.

I think this article can impact just about anyone, because even if your out of college job imployers  can look at your social media too, and anyone else.

We should all be careful on what we put on social media!

This article impacted me, even though i think I'm pretty good with social media, and brought to light that i should be even more careful than i am, and that it can impact my future.

ERASE NAME ANIMATION HOW TO:

the first step in this animation is to create a 600 by 150 pixels animation and type in your name in any color of font you would like. center your name and fit it to the frame. next you will take the crop tool and trim off the extra blank space on the sides of your name.

next you will rasterize your layers then take the erase tool and erase your name little by little BACKWARDS from the way you normally write my name. for example in m my picture i started from the last letter of my name and the last part i normally write, when i actually write my name. after you create a layer of gradual erasing keep copying that layer and then erase then copy then erase. its very continuous, but pretty easy! also when you copy the layer don't forget to click the little eyeball button before you erase the next layer so you can actually see what you are erasing.

next just keep repeating those steps until your name is fully erased. then go down and click create a frame animation.
next click on all of the ye buttons on the sides of the frames so you can see all of the layers.

select all of your frames and reverse them, and then you've finished your animation!

look back at the top of this post and if you've don't it correct then it should look at mine at the top!

happy animating:)

photoshop video timeline with 10 word describing me!

During this animation project we learned how to create a video timeline and not use frame by frame animation like my bouncing ball animations. In this animation we put 10 words describing describing ourself with our name in the center.

I thought this animation was pretty easy after i got the hang of how to do it. We didn't have to make every frame of the animation like others in the past which saved time and made it very smooth and controlled,

Thursday, August 27, 2015

Throughout this week in e9 we worked on our fist animation project using squash and stretch. we used the photoshop on our computers in class and used a ball dropping to capture the rules of squash and stretch.

As you notice in the animation it looks like the ball is going faster when its around the middle of the screen this shows the first rule of stretch. i moved the ball farther apart the lower it got on the animation and stretched it out to show that it speeds up.

When the ball hits the bottom of the screen it stretches horizontal which is the second rule called squash. it shows that the ball was going fast at the top and forces it to be squashed at the bottom.
