famous logos

in em this week we created famous logos through illustrator! we found tutorials on youtube and the internet to help us. i decided to create the Chanel logo and also the old Pepsi logo. i learned a lot of new things having to create these logos and having to learn how to do it on my own. learned a lot about the pen tool, which was difficult but i kept doing it over and over and eventually got the hang of it, and so much more.

these are the logos i created with the tutorials listed on them to guide me through how to make them.

graphic design

what is graphic design?

Graphic design is art that is a part of everyones lives, it contains words, color, emotion, size, shapes and creativity to create something like a label or logo. every day you can see a label on something like a soda can or even your school textbooks. its all graphic design, and it plays a big role in our lives.

3 personal connections-

  • when picking a book i normally go toward the books with the interesting covers that look aesthetically pleasing to me.
  • i don't like any of my school textbooks and one of my friends asked me why. and i responded they were ugly. most people don't like that they are textbooks for SCHOOL but the one thing that went to my head for why i didn't like it was the cover.
  • when I'm  looking Pinterest and a logo pops up it makes me want to draw it or make a new logo

E9 PROMO VIDEO

e9 is a program here at olathe northwest high school which allows students to learn things in areas of video, graphic design, and animation, but you can learn all about that by watching this video i created in the video portion of e9 showing what e9 is and what we are all about!

  • in my video i think i edited the film well including the voice over and music and had steady well planned shots.
  •  i think if i did this project again i would have gotten more shots.
  • i think what i could improve on would be getting a greater variety of shots instead of mostly focusing on medium and wide shots.

animal type

today in e9 we took a "test" to see what type of animal you were out of 4 different ones.my results were an otter

characteristics of an otter-

  • enthusiastic
  • takes risks
  • visionary
  • verbal
  • promoter
  • enjoys popularity
  • fun loving
  • likes variety
  • spontaneous
  • inspirational
strength-people person, open and positive
weakness-talks too much

Im a little surprised this was my highest ranking animal type because another type of animal type was also a golden retriever which had characteristics that described me very will such as loyal, gives in to others, and nurturing to people around me.

also an example or explanation of why i could be an otter type is I'm very happy and energetic around my friends for the most part and I'm very loving to all my friends and family.

the 6 shot system & rule of 1/3s

This week in e9 we learned about the 6 shot system, which are the basic shots you use in any video or photography. The 6 shots consist of...

  • over the shoulder
  • close up of hands
  • medium shot
  • wide shot
  • extra wide shot
  • close up of face

Also we learned about the rule of thirds, which looks like a tick tack toe board laid over your picture. instead of having the object or person in your photographing right in the center of the image or video, you want the object or person to be set where the "tick tack toe" lines lay to make the picture more interesting and better composed.

6 shot system-

close up of the hands- a close up of the hands
shows what they are doing, and has good motion
in it.

over the shoulder- an over the shoulder shot shows
wat your subject is working on by taking it from
their perspective.

close up of the face-a close up of the face helps
show emotion an the detail of the subjects face.
this shot should have the whole face taken up in the
image.

medium shot- the medium shot is from the waist
up, and is a neutral shot to show some surroundings,
but focused on the subject.

wide shot-in the wide, its a full body shot. from head to toe.
this shot is meant to show
surroundings but still focused on the subject.

x/wide shot-the extra with shot is meant to show the
setting and environment the subject is in, the
subject should still be in a head to toe shot.
